Description
Golem: Command Clay Guardians in 16th Century Prague
Dive into the rich lore of Golem, a strategy game by the creators of Grand Austria Hotel and Lorenzo il Magnifico. Set in Renaissance Prague, this engine-building game challenges 1–4 players (ages 14+) to master the balance of power and control over their mystical creations.
The Legend
Inspired by the 16th-century tale of the Golem of Prague, players become rabbis crafting clay protectors to defend their community. But power comes at a cost—uncontrolled golems wreak havoc, forcing you to make tough decisions: nurture them, or sacrifice them for strategic advantages.
Gameplay Overview
Golem is played over four rounds, each packed with strategic choices:
- Draft Actions: Drop marbles into the 3D synagogue and draft actions tied to the five game areas: Work, Golems, Artifacts, Spells, and Mirror.
- Develop Strategy: Use marbles and coins to create artifacts, gain knowledge, and advance on district tracks to maintain golem control.
- Balance Risk: Manage golems carefully. Allow them to thrive for rewards, but control them with advancing students—or risk destructive consequences.
Each round unfolds through seven phases, blending drafting, worker placement, and resource management.
